I’m getting villainous vibes from that guy. I’m not saying he’s straight up evil, but that expression he shows in that last panel does NOT speak to anything good.
He’s a corporate. Anything that distracts his minions from making him more money and prestigue is evilbadwrong. HE’S the only person who’s supposed to have a life; minions aren’t supposed to have lives.
I love Abeille’s put on slyness. And Miel’s reaction is cute. Abeille is always the forward one.
Mr. Acier could be disturbed that Miel is mingling with “the lower classes”, rather than being after Miel.
It seems that those on the last page who suspected Mr. Acier likes Mielle may have been correct.
That look towards Abeille does not bode well. I find myself wondering if he will use guilt / mockery at Mielle about his relationship, or just straight up reprimand/punish him for something like a “devalued work ethic”…
So Miel and Abeille are both being emotionally manipulated. Abeille by her mother, and Miel by his boss. In both cases sad especially because it’s coming from someone they respect and want to trust.
Wonder if my theory will turn out with some plausibility… theory being that Mr. Acier has a thing for Miel, but was too little too late, and now he’s showing a little bit of jealousy…
It’s… uh, that’s more than too little too late. I’m guessing they have rules about bosses having relationships with subordinates there just as they do in most places in the modern world. Huge power differentials don’t promote healthy romances. :/
I had forgotten the scene where Miel is stopped in an elevator by Mr. Acier and asked if he could stay after work, ch16 p17. (Maybe I shouldn’t post a link, if it could be broken in the future if the site changes). I’m slightly more convinced that Mr. Acier could be interested in Miel.
And now we wait to see if he retaliates against Abbi.

If I’ve know anything about this comic it’s that nobody is actually evil, just very complicated.
+1

He isn’t straight in more ways than that
Hmmmmm…I’m not liking the boss’s looks right now

Ah, this is where the wind is blowing from. Clearly a distraction Miel is better off without.

Uh oh…..
Well, Mr GLACIER, I certainly hope you actually mean well
