Semi-off topic, but it’s been on my mind for a while, and I’m worried/stressed/lacking sleep so I’ll share with y’all. I’ve long wondered how human society could get like the one in LNF, with touching not only frowned upon but actively avoided, but with all this virus stuff happening and people keeping more and more to their personal bubbles, it’s becoming more clear to me, heh.

I’ve been thinking that, too; wondering if our society/societies on earth will bend at least slightly that way.

I have no Gravatar. All the faces are just too young. Isaac Asimov postulated a future of Earthlings/Spacers in his future detective story ring-Earthlings were abundant, agoraphobic, and robot-ophobic-there was no need for robots- anything needing to be done would be done by a human. They lived underground in huge cities where wide expanses were just not done- it was comfie and cosie to have small and snug areas where people crowded together. Spacers were descendants of the early space explorers. They were very few in number and children were usually obtained by artificial insemination by a “fetal engineer” who also removed the 10-12 week old embryo to an artificial womb. Caregivers were human appearing androids and although young children needed contact with other young children they were weaned over the course of years to “zoom-call” interactions. Each Spacer lived in humoungous acreages- teir planet populations were counted in tens of thousands, not tens of billions like mother Earth. Actually, John Byrne did a total rip-off of Asimov’s dystopian future when he re-did the Superman origins for the umptienth millionth time-with Kryptonians taking the no-touch culture to the Isaac Asimov limits. It makes touching a revoluntionary act, one that threatens the power structure.
