Right? The fourth panel is just… *chef kiss*. Seriously I might just keep it in my wallet when I have to deal with Certain People. Cordia’s “I am SO DONE with this” expression is an inspiration, along with the shock in Amaryllis’s face. <3
I can imagine them having a “birds and the bees” type of conversation with them, but about something more innocent like hand holding.
“Honey, I know you’re an adult but please just hold hands responsibly.”
“Mom, stop! This is so embarrassing!”
“Think of the consequences! You can some dirt on your hands and get some on Abeille! Always wash your hands before you touch someone, pumpkin.”
I really don’t think that her daughters were anything more than trophies for Amaryllis. Little copies of herself she could parade in front of the appropriate people for approval and admiration. It’s why she’s always been so hard on Abeille–she’s never lived up to Amaryllis’s expectations.
Oh this is so satisfying! I hope she tries to storm out and Abeille refuses to leave with her, or Miel’s moms intervene.
I also really like the differences in how Abeille and Miel handled themselves through this scene. Miel is treated as an adult by his parents, and he gives an adult response. Abeille has been trapped in a childlike relationship with her mother by her mother’s narcissism and temper, and so she isn’t able to do the same until Miel reminds her that she’s no longer that little girl Amaryllis has yelled at all her life.
btw, Amarylis fully expected Miel’s moms to scold him like a guilty brat or something. And they just be like “are you seriously expecting me to tell a fully grown adult with a degree, career and a healthy relationship <> do you realise how ridiculous that sounds?”
Poor Abeille though, she’s actively hiding behind Miel and scared about Amaryllis’s reactions. Notice how she’s folding in on herself as though she’s trying to escape notice. Miel mostly seems annoyed and slightly defensive, possibly because Amaryllis is acting aggressively toward his moms. Cordia and Jasmine are pretty nonplussed, which is amusing considering how ‘het up’ Amaryllis is.
btw, I love Cordia’s dress. In that there’s [the boobs] and then there’s [the dress]
Not everyone can pull off that look π
Meanwhile Jasmine’s attire is just so soft π I like how it flows.
Does my spam bother you any? I’m just so excited about where your story is going π
Amaryllis is not used to people talking back to her, betcha she considers herself hot stuff back at home, but everyone else is actually glad to have her gone for a few months. I just hope Miel’s parents insist Abeille stays the night because they recognize she’s in an abusive relationship with her mom and won’t allow it. I think they kinda had an idea, and this is just confirming it.
The dinner conversation where her mom was constantly talking so negatively about Abeille was a huge red flag, and this is clear confirmation. I am also really hoping that folks help Abeille get away from her mom.
Yep. He’s an adult, he’s making his own decisions, and if they’re a little strange, so what? He’s happy. And so is Abeille (or at least she was before her mom showed up and started treating her terribly).
Frankly, Amaryllis is lucky she exists in a universe where touching is taboo, because if it weren’t I think she might have got her lights punched out in panel two. Miel’s moms don’t take kindly to that bullshit.
Yeah. That is where I think Amaryllis could cause trouble, or at Eyebright anyway. But, Miel has already said he’s with Abeille. So, if say Acier would agree to bring Abeille to Doublefleur, maybe Amaryllist could wreck that. But, love seems to have been found, to me, and I don’t think Amaryllis can ruin that. But, I guess we’ll find out.
Love the language Amaryllis is still using here – something is wrong with *your son*, what are *you* going to do about *him* – she is completely and utterly ignoring what her adult daughter just said about it being a mutual relationship that *she* instigated.
I find it throughly amusing that the ONLY person who gives a f**k, AT ALL, is Amaryills. She tries to blame the other party because “Oh no, my child couldn’t be like that! He’s making her!” even though Abeille freely admitted to being the one to start stuff, and also the fact that Miels parent’s DIDN’T react? Now to her everyone is just “ganging up on her” and “won’t listen to reason”. I hope they boot her right quick, cause she is toxic to the ultimate degree and doing nothing but harming those around her.
Ugh Abielle’s Dad tho. Seriously Mallow she’s chewing out someone else’s son in their own home and the best you can muster is quietly suggesting she “keep this civil”?! She left civil about 20 miles back when she barged into someone else’s home to scream at them. Really hope that Abielle stays with them and mother is forced to leave or have space cops called on her.
I doubt he’s intentionally limiting himself to saying “keep this civil”. He is “useless” as Amaryllis says. But, people aren’t to be used and he clearly loves Abeille and his sweetheart.
His head is filled with Amaryllis, probably. He is blissfully whipped. But, also he’s being abused in most scenes. He loves his daughter, but is impeded. That’s negligent. That goes to appropriate reactions to that scenario, not his condemnation.
Oof, the relief I feel at Mielβs momsβ reactions is REAL. Iβm so happy they reacted so calmly and so appropriately. Am I terrified of what Amaryllis is going to try next? Yeah, a bit, but this is a huge emotional win. She needs to pack up and leave, sheβs brought nothing but stress and misery with her.
It’s kind of heartbreaking to realize as I read this page, that Abielle’s reaction on the last page was not directed at her parents at all, it was entirely directed at Miel’s… because some part of her expects them to react exactly like her mother and she can’t face the idea of bringing that down on Miel. Poor, poor Abielle, you really need some healthier models for family. π
This actually isn’t an unusual dynamic between Amaryllis and Mallow I think. Someone like Amaryllis probably sought out a mate that she could control and dominate. She gets this shy, sweet guy to love her that is too subdued to really fight back that’s exactly the kind of person a narcissist would want, not someone that would challenge them.
He’s just as much a victim as Abeille, he acts a lot like his daughter when Amaryllis goes off, quietly embarrassed or uncomfortable, but knowing that he’d be shut down the instant he said anything to try to dissuade her. Yes, he’s a parent and he should stand up for his daughter, but he doesn’t know how to do that, all he does know to do I think is to try to comfort Abeille after the fact. I can see him filling that role more, even though I can totally see it being a conversation like. “Your Mom means well…”
Amaryllis to them is a force of nature that they feel very little hope of reasoning with. People can’t always help their personalities. Sure, Mallow should have stood up to Amaryllis on several points, but even if he had, it’s doubtful it would have been effective, and he does try, in his mousy way to calm her down and he does try to reason her, like at the fair where he was trying to defuse her and say Abeille was probably just off enjoying herself and that they should let her enjoy herself, have some fun themselves and catch up to her later. He does try to de-escalate, he’s just very unsuccessful at it due to his gentle nature.
The title page for the current chapter might actually be predicting there might be a split between the two here, how Mallow is fractured separate from Amaryllis looking miserable, but that may be reading into it too much. It does seem like something is going to give though.
*Jasmine ignores ticking sound* “You know what, Cordia? Next time, we braid my hair OUT HERE instead of hiding in the bedroom.”
*Cordia clasps Jasmine’s hands* “Yes! The mirror out here is so much better. Let’s celebrate! I found this antique game of Twister at the surplus merchants, I’ve been dying to try it out!”
YES. YES. YES. This gave me SO much satisfaction.
Right? The fourth panel is just… *chef kiss*. Seriously I might just keep it in my wallet when I have to deal with Certain People. Cordia’s “I am SO DONE with this” expression is an inspiration, along with the shock in Amaryllis’s face. <3
I literally came to make almost the exact same word for word comment. YESSSSS!
Meil’s Mama’s for the win!
BAM! (Accompanied by spinning around and fist-pumping in excitement) This is fantastic…
Also I love how the moms are just like ‘Hm interesting, oh well’
I can imagine them having a “birds and the bees” type of conversation with them, but about something more innocent like hand holding.
“Honey, I know you’re an adult but please just hold hands responsibly.”
“Mom, stop! This is so embarrassing!”

I knew it, I knew Miel’s parents wouldn’t be that bothered by it. Amaryllis looks like she’s going to implode and I’m living for it.
I didn’t think it was possible for a comic to accurately display a “Karen” face then I saw that last panel.
Ah, yes. It’s those old books.
It looks like Abeille and Miel are touching, maybe.
Ohhh Amaryllis! Your expression is DELICIOUS! <333
Anyone else think Amaryllis is going to stress herself into a Planet Shock meltdown? (a la Chapter 6)
Ooh, I had forgotten about this..
parental support at its best…
I really don’t think that her daughters were anything more than trophies for Amaryllis. Little copies of herself she could parade in front of the appropriate people for approval and admiration. It’s why she’s always been so hard on Abeille–she’s never lived up to Amaryllis’s expectations.
Oh, Abeille’s mom is about to go FULL Karen….
Oh this is so satisfying! I hope she tries to storm out and Abeille refuses to leave with her, or Miel’s moms intervene.

“son, you’re grounded, and no tv for a month!”
Well, Abeille certainly gets a better deal regarding in-laws than Miel.
Evette live’s on in Abeille’s garden! Hfff… Sorry. That’s probably not what you meant.
Parental support, thine name is Cordia.
hey, did you miss the gold streak or just omit ot for minimalism? Regardless, Miel’s expression on panel 2 is gold.
Totally missed it! lol
Thanks for catching it!
It is Jasmine’s fault, I think. With those books, making her child susceptible to Abeille’s charms. The two mom’s are almost touching anyway. Hmm.
Jasmine is beautiful on this page.
She is going to do something drastic. This is not a person who takes “being the wrong one” well.
This also won’t end well. She is manipulative, and actively PUNISHING Abeille for what I’m sure she imagines is that the wrong sister lived.
Narcissistic meltdown in 3…2…1…
btw, I love Cordia’s dress. In that there’s [the boobs] and then there’s [the dress]
Not everyone can pull off that look π
Meanwhile Jasmine’s attire is just so soft π I like how it flows.
Does my spam bother you any? I’m just so excited about where your story is going π
Not spam. That dress would not look the same on me… Miel’s moms are very admirable on this page and I’m excited too.
Miel is so embarrassed for Abeille that the blonde has left his hair *giggle*
That had me giggling! XD Looks like I missed that! Thanks for catching it!
If this makes Amaryllis mad, wait til.she finds out about Holly/Aster/Ivy being in a polyamorous relationship that involves *le gasp* TOUCHING.
Hopefully Clove can comfort her, WHOOPS HE’S BUSY TOUCHING BOTAN!!
Seriously, this lady needs to stop herself before she wrecks herself.
Amaryllis is not used to people talking back to her, betcha she considers herself hot stuff back at home, but everyone else is actually glad to have her gone for a few months. Hey, look, good moms π
Miel’s mothers for the win! At least we have some parentals who know how to let their children grow up!
Am I the only one that thinks Amaryllis looks like Yellow Diamond?
“A /grown man/.”
Yep. He’s an adult, he’s making his own decisions, and if they’re a little strange, so what? He’s happy. And so is Abeille (or at least she was before her mom showed up and started treating her terribly).

YAAAAS MAAAAMS!!! This makes me all hyped inside. Only hurdle left, Mr. Acier :D, and people, but frick people xD
Yeah. That is where I think Amaryllis could cause trouble, or at Eyebright anyway. But, Miel has already said he’s with Abeille. [KLAXON] MELTDOWN IN PROGRESS. ALL PERSONNEL EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY.
Seriously though, good on them for knocking Amaryllis down a peg or two….but yeah, clearing the area may be a good idea.
Oh boy. Explosion in 3, 2, 1…
Well, Abeille is learning a lesson about parents. It’s probably a good thing that she was not able to keep back Amaryllis.
I think I hear ticking in the last panel. The Amaryllis Bomb is set to explode!
Now I’m waiting for “Now would you kindly leave? Miel’s having a guest over and we just want to enjoy a quiet family evening”
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!
Love the language Amaryllis is still using here – something is wrong with *your son*, what are *you* going to do about *him* – she is completely and utterly ignoring what her adult daughter just said about it being a mutual relationship that *she* instigated.

Well, going by Amaryllis’ argument…what is wrong with your daughter?!
“It’s none of our business to discuss.” Said right after a bunch of speculating. MOM! π
I’m screaming with joy inside.
Ugh Abielle’s Dad tho. Seriously Mallow she’s chewing out someone else’s son in their own home and the best you can muster is quietly suggesting she “keep this civil”?! Cordia and Jasmine are Moms of the Year!!
I vote for their designation too!!
