I am so, so, SO relieved Acier’s calming down. I’m still wary of him, but I’m hoping he’ll become an ally in the fight against her mom. Just wish Abeille wasn’t always so willing to take the blame for everything, it’s not healthy.

He could start by recommending she take some leave, like what has happened with other characters. I don’t think it would hurt after all the trauma of the blow-up that happened literally yesterday in-comic.

I hope that it’s leave with counselling of some form. And that they have decent counselling there. She really needs space to start unpacking the issues from her childhood and losing her sister and everything else.

Well someone of a higher worker “class” than Abielle is now on her side, someone that Acier has no self-interest about. *Wry*

This is how I have been reading Acier’s character and I’m pretty relieved to see him going down the path of simply a stressed out boss who is afraid of losing his favorite employee (Miel to Abielle, since Miel is starting to put outside relationships before work for once), and who is tired of crazy work drama due to Abielle (the display with Miel that was then made suuuper public because of Abielle’s mother). All of Acier’s frustrations revolve around poor Abielle even though she didn’t have any bad intentions with any of her actions. He even acknowledged in the last strip that her mom was an issue in a round about way. As someone who has been in a supervisor type of position, I’ve actually kind of connected with his frustrations and I never really felt like he was going to be written as an evil character. But, hey! The day is still young! There’s still time for him to be a bad guy! Lol (: (Also, sorry if this posts twice – it seems that I’m having issues posting this comment. Website gave me a ‘Bad Gateway’ error).

I agree with this. The older I get the more I can empathize with characters like this and recognize the shitty position that they’re in.

Objectively speaking, Abeille isn’t a model employee or anything particularly special when it comes to work. She does well and doesn’t deserve to lose her job, but she’s also replaceable and could do just as well in a myriad of positions.

Miel has specialist skills and it can be very stressful to go from having a reliable employee you know puts work first to the employee showing outside interests. It’s part of life and should be respected, but I get why Acier is really stressed out.

It’s not unlikely that Mmiel transferring was an integral part of the plan and now Acier is in a position where he either has to figure out how to move Abeille as well (should she be amenable) or risk losing Miel in the project.

Then with the scandal she caused – uh, yeah, I totally get why part of him is wishing he could just get rid of her and be done with it.

She likely feels like a massive liability for the company when she frankly isn’t worth the risk.

I agree here. I’m not saying he’s “right” (he isn’t) but his position is relatable and understandable.

Yeah, that’s the sign of good character writing – nobody is really fully in the “right” here. (:

I am 100% thankful that was Botan and not her mom. Good guy Botan.

Also, props for Abeille being mature here. Yeah, she’s been going through a lot but sadly Acier is right. :/ As much as my sense of justice wants to say otherwise.

To be honest, while Abeille is in the wrong for basically physically assaulting the person, I would also bring in the other party to have a talk with them too. Insulting any employee in a company, especially to their face, is not a good work environment and should be discouraged. I’m not sure what the punishment difference should be, whether just a warning for the other party and unpaid leave for Abeille or something. There seems to be an allowance of insults and harassment for what are considered “lesser” workers. That is a setup for trouble.

I wouldn’t be surprised, I would even say confidently that he will bring in the other person. You normally don’t bring in both people at the same time, that wouldn only lead to more trouble. And even if he doesn’t bring them in to scold them, he would have to bring them in for an incident report of something of that matter, and would have to ask exactly what happened anyways, so Acier would hear about it regardless (unless the dude lied, which would only make him look worse to Acier when he checks with Abielle/Botan/etc).

This. He also did the right thing by bringing in the “physical aggressor” (Sadly, our favorite bee) first, and I’m also confident the other person will be brought in. This isn’t a zero-sum game with a winner and a loser – I doubt the other guy will be completely off the hook.

I know a lot of people think Acier has it out for Abielle because of Miel but every time I see him he’s just acting like a manager who just wants stuff to run smoothly.

Fully agreed. It’s likely that everyone who has been spreading the rumor and harassing Abeille will receive penalties of some sort.

Botan will likely be reprimanded for failing to address this situation and leaving Abeille to feel like she had to handle it – since this makes it seem like he was aware. If he wasn’t aware, he’ll be reprimanded for not ensuring his team feels safe to go to him with problems like these and likely be expected to do some training.

I honestly expect absolutely everyone in the damn company will get at minimum a very angry memo because they’ve all acted like highschool brats.

Which is why it makes sense Acier is so damn tense. He has a bloody job to do and now the entire bloody company has to be taken to task and protocol has to be followed and HR and legal are likely breathing down everyone’s necks..

Botan is so distressed about this mess that his clothing is color shifting!

Seriously though, I’m glad his support seems to have pulled this back a bit.

I think just having someone, anyone, stand up for her was all Abeille needed – she’s so much calmer just from having a friend there to say “She was provoked. Yeah, she shouldn’t have thrown her lunch tray at him, but that guy was being an asshole.”

It meant she could calm down and apologize for her behavior without essentially begging to not be fired.

I read this a little differently, but maybe because I’m me. If I were in Abeille’s shoes, I’d “calm down” when someone else started defending me, because I’d hate for them to get in trouble because of it (even if “trouble” wouldn’t necessary mean anything serious). Kinda makes me wonder if Mallow ever tried defending Abeille from Amaryllis’s verbal abuse, only for Amaryllis to turn on him and Abeille feeling guilty because she thought it was her fault.

Of course, I could be reading waaaaaaaay too much into it. 😅

Acier’s expression in the second to last panel also tells something really important about how he expected this to go: he is genuinely surprised Abielle is owning up to this and apologizing for this and the night before. I suspect he is far too used to people making excuses or putting blame on others. Certainly can’t speak for social norms in the LNF world, but way too many people in the here and now react defensively when they are called out on poor behavior. To actually own up to it, not try to make excuses, to genuinely apologize, and to be willing to face the consequences of those actions is, at least in my experience, surprising.

Why does Botan have short sleeves in the first panel but long sleeves in the rest of the page?

Haha! Oh no! my brain keeps trying to make me draw him with short sleeves because Abeille wears short even in winter! XD I guess I just want to show off those buff Botan gardener-arms LOL (will fix this before the next update)

In a way, she is right. There is an explanation, but it’s not an excuse.
The PROBLEM is she didn’t get or ask for any vacation to compose herself and Acier is way too judgemental for someone who directly helped the scene to happen by assisting her abusive mother.

Now, if Abeille is apologising for engaging is a sexual kink at a work function in a very accessible open tent, then it is legit.
I hope she’s not apologising for her kink by itself and I DEFINITELY hope that’s not what Acier receives.

He should have an apology for her, in fact.

I keep seeing this come up about Acier helping her mother.

Yes, he helped her find Abeille – at a public work function. He had (at least prior to the tent scene) no idea she was abusive, even now he probably has no idea how deep her mom’s problems go aside from her being loud and reactive to seeing her daughter be “kinky”.

I’m just confused why he keepsntaking heat for this.

        Abeille good. Acier bad.

        That’s about it.

Abeille brought her mom. Why on earth would you assume that a person’s invited guest was not allowed to see the person who invited her???

From me, it’s not that he’s bad because he did this, he genuinely didn’t know.
But I feel he should feel a tad responsible and apologise for playing that small part in this.
Not pretending I’m being objective here, just that would make me feel better.

Hope that answers your query somehow.

I don’t think we know what was seen in the tent. Miel commented that the video doesn’t show anything. We see an image of Amaryllis yelling. When Amaryllis walks in we see Abeille and Miel, not touching. Miel has his hands raised, maybe right after he held her hands and kissed her forehead. https://lovenotfound.com/comic/ch18-p47/

Note this everyone. This is why you own up to your mistakes because it actually goes better when you do. It works even better when you start things that way.

As long as the consequences from your mistake are not too severe that is.: Death, mangling, cost the company a vast swath of money.
