Ch19 P49
And on that note, Chapter 19 is complete! It’s been a tempestuous ride and it’s a relief to have it end with Miel by Abeille’s side!
I’ll be taking a few weeks off from posting pages as I work on the script for the next chapter. The Patreon goodies will continue to post during this time and there’s bound to be posts featuring concept art for Chapter 20!
YEAH!! Miel is saying just what she needs to hear. I hope she takes that to heart the next time she has to stand her ground against Amaryllis.
I loved Abeille’s face in that 3rd panel. Yeah I’d be shocked if someone was willing to fight for me too.
Is this what I think it is? Is this the first step of everybody rallying behind Abeille and her being finally able to resist Amaryllis because of her new, but rock-solid support network?
Yes. You’ve build a life for yourself here. Defend it.
Beautiful and supportive and loving!!
GO MIEL!!! Way to be a supportive partner <3 <3
Awwww, these two are just so adorable!
I’ve been lagging behind on my webcomics for a while and BOY AM I HAPPY I CAUGHT UP FOR THIS!
Squeee
Now I’m wondering what Acier will say to this
You know Gina, I keep coming back to this comic partly because I’m hungry for updates lol, but! Every time I see the same page I pick up something new from it. This time I’m paying attention to your composition. The simple backgrounds, especially with the circular lights shared between them complement the dialogue – in the first page the hard-edged circle envelopes them both, creating a small, protective space around them, almost like its own room for this intimate conversation and providing safety for Abeille to express her pain and be welcomed with it. The second panel is drawn in closer to the figures and facing Abeille – this line is meant for her and nobody else. The third is drawn close as well, their figures in profile and the circular light soft and small to highlight the (small) physical and symbolic distance between them. This conversation has made them closer and made them stronger. Finally, the last two panels draw out as the conversation shifts to something more lighthearted and sweet.
Gina, I genuinely hope that this is work you are proud of. Comics, like storyboarding, are a complex art about the dance between writing and composition and you’ve developed that skill well over the years! I love your work, and Ive loved seeing it develop over time. <3
Miel is the kind of partner I want to be.
“You don’t have to do it on your own”. Isn’t that what she needs to hear, and for Miel to live up to. Jac says what I think too, about seeing new things the closer you look. Abeille and Miel say so much. The story heals my wounds.
