I agree, but not as a rule. I care too much about people to judge them by arbitrary rules, like you get n chances, or some such thing. A partner isn’t an employee. They’re not filling a position. My caring isn’t about what they can do for me.
Still, there are scenarios in which I have predictable behavior that is likely to appear when others act in a way that triggers that behavior (I trigger myself). I have needed arbitrary rules before, for myself, to avoid a situation in which I know I will get myself abused. But, it’s a crutch. It’s a tool. It’s not something I suggest to others. It’s not the right thing for people to do.
Holly seems like maybe he has that going on between himself and Verbena. So, I’m worried. And, I wish he’d be careful. There could be parts of the story that we don’t know that would change all of that.
I am not fond of rules determining how you relate to people, whether or not that’s waht JuaSaysHi meant.
People with tourette syndrome will likely say the most offensive thing that comes to mind, if they like someone very much. Depressed people, people who’ve experienced childhood trauma, etc. etc. will probably behave in a weird way repeatedly even though they don’t want to. So, I don’t like the idea that a draconian rule determines how people relate to each other. I want talk to people who do x n times, for example. I do like doing what you need to to not be abused.
For the record, no mention of rules came from me? *confused*
I just said what I would have said. Not seeing the partner vs employee comparison applicability here either??
To elaborate what I meant, I am of the inclination that were I in his situation, I would not only walk, as he has, but also say a pointed thing, just in case informative feedback might help, so she would know “what the hell is my problem.” Not based on some rule, just based Vee’s behavior.
Poor Vee really needs to get away from her mother and get THERAPY! Their mom has done such a good job of pitting her against Ivy that she is genuinely hurt when other people prefer Ivy’s company to her toxic behavior.
Therapy, quitting family dinners like Ivy, and maybe a team based outlet. Woof. Have we seen if she has any friends either? I believe she’s always run into people as a solo.
Real nice comparing a romantic relationship to a leash. I guess it shows her mindset, that all a relationship is to her is restriction, domination and control rather than things like love, support, partnership and cooperation.
Heh, I just caught a cute MLP reference with the drink names: Sunset Glimmer (Sunset Shimmer AND Starlight Glimmer) and Pinky Pineapple (Pinkie Pie, aka Best Pony) If anyone can explain Great Blue Diver that’d be swell ^-^
Also, Vee I swear I mean this from a place of love, Get! A LIFE!
See, this is where I’d say, “You *already* bit, that’s why I’m walking away.”

Maybe I’m misunderstanding but I don’t think it’s arbitrary to walk away from someone when their opening line is a demeaning jab.

Sorry about that, JuaSaysHi. I hijacked your comment, I suppose.
Okay but that bartender droid is so cute!
Same, I love its face!!

Bad Verbena. Holly, you dope… He’s carrying drinks though, so maybe he’ll be smart.
I love seeing my favorite bot again! There’s a bots section in a wiki https://lovenotfound-fans.fandom.com/wiki/Timelines#Bots

Yeah, this is a really crappy opening line. Doesn’t make me think the conversation can go anywhere good.
Yay! MLP themed drinks! I love it!

If it is MLP themed it may be a reference to Rainbow Dash. She is blue and dives out of the sky often.
She forgot the rest of the rhyme 😉
Love the page, but I think Vee and Holly switched places in the second to last panel.
