I take it as Holly planning to be alone, while Ivy and Aster do young people things. My ex was 20 years older than me and we stopped going on camping trips, after a while. It only occurred to me long after that that might have been related to age. I wasn’t with her for camping trips. She was an achievement monster, full throttle, the entire time. I guess if people met as pair ice skaters, or something where your life is about a pair doing something active, age difference would be difficult.
Holly seems to be misunderstanding some things. It’s very cute.
Aster looks very pretty in that top. I love how Ivy is in tourist costume. hehe.
What the 3-some has been missing is common ground between Holly and Aster… with this they are no longer a straight-line with Ivy as the link, they now form a circle.
My last three solo vacations all saw me either bringing or buying one or more models to work on. A group trip I might do otherwise, but my sleep cycle’s usually way off from normal and spending a few hours trimming and dry-fitting parts while you wait for the rest of the group to wake up is no weirder a way to spend time than reading a book.
I’m so excited for these two to get some bonding time! Also, it would be great for Holly to realize that some of his “boring” interests aren’t actually boring. 🙂
I am absolutely reading too much into it, but I they all three have white in their outfits (the triad), Holly and Ivy have the pink (dyad one), and Aster and Ivy share the black (dyad the second). What’s missing is the Aster/Holly dyad, but it looks like they’re working on it now! I have connected the dots.
I love that! This seems completely appropriate to me. When Gina mentions flower symbolism, I’ve never taken it as like a decoder ring index. She wisely describes it as “most of the characters are named after flower and plants”.
The book language of flowers was about cute ways to play romantic games. It was a way to go around the social norms and tease your crush, I think. But, it does put an interesting focus over areas of your relationship. There are natural correspondences regarding color, but probably beyond human comprehension.
I suspend my disbelief and look through a lens of symbolism. It completely makes sense that the colors mean that on this page. I don’t think Artists necessarily see all of what they portray. The viewer and the artist find out what was meant by an artwork.
I love how well Gina always captures expressions, but I have to say Holly is my favorite for that! Look at that cute lil shy face in the third panel! ♥♥♥
heehee Holly’s wide eyes in the last panel give the look of absolute realization to childlike joy. Maybe this cruise will give the boys time to bond, and give the sisters time to reconcile.
It’s pretty funny watching my brain process this page, in the midst of gender dysphoria. Boys bonding over glue (thanks Shire). That’s that thing I would do as a boy. But, also, Aster isn’t a boy.
Don’t get me wrong. This is a dream come true, for me, Aster and Holly bonding. And Aster having some “boy traits” is a good thing. It’s just fun to watch my dramatic brain parts going into overload.
Ahh this is cute.
We already know that Aster and Holly love a pun contest. This is a nice opportunity for Holly to realise that Aster genuinely likes him for being him, and not just as … an extension? … part of a two part deal with Ivy? Either way, I like this moment.
When your two besties discover they have more likes in common than just you.
Oh this is gonna be cute, Holly and Aster realizing they have more in common than they thought!
Kinda looks to me like Holly wanted that to be something just for himself. Little “me” time.

Eli…
In case you are interested, a common term for it is a V triad.
I envy Holly, I could never pull off a shirt like that
Well hello there, unexpected by entirely welcome surprise!
That being said, though….who brings a model kit on a vacation? XP
Someone who is working the rest of year and, on top of that, expects to be a third wheel despite being told otherwise.

I’m pretty sure Aster is neither a boy nor a girl.
Ah right. Forgot. Androgynous. =p

Holly: I’m just a boring old man
Aster: good.
Why is this the first reference to pop into my head? ;^) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utNVeHvQ4O4
