As a person that tries to connect with my sibling I like story’s about that. Not that there’s something bad between my siblings and I, it just because we have few things in common so I don’t now most of the time what it’s going in their lifes.
I’m sticking through this particular storyline because I like the comic but good lord is Verbena incredibly aggravating. She reminds me of my younger sister who constantly bullied me growing up because she was insecure. I stopped talking to her years ago – maybe Ivy should do the same here. This kind of personality that Verbena has rarely ever improves or takes accountability for how they’ve hurt others.
Your words really resonate with me. I was the oldest of three and both sisters turned on me. For us, it was an abusive household and no one had healthy coping habits. Now that we’re older, we’ve reconnected and healed. I realize your story has more depth than could be expressed here, but if healing is possible, I hope you and your sister find it.
Yeah? that’s the worst thing about it: they unpreventably* rile you up against each other so that you have NO ONE to turn to. Just so you turn on each others throats instead of teamwork against them.
*I mean HOW even, you are all just kids and they condition you ?
Maybe healing is possible, but I’m not holding my breath. Last time I heard of her through a family member the word was she thinks I’m overreacting and should just get over it, and it’s all my fault anyway. No improvement or accountability there! ?
Verbena’s body language speaks VOLUMES to me. it may seem like such a little thing but the way she streched her legs across and put her feet up on the seat next to her sister just sort of smacked me. There’s a concept of ‘taking up space’ in some societies in the past. doing something like this, occupying as much space as possible, is a way to assert dominance. she could be seen as being cocky or feeling like she is more important. i can read this a few ways
mainly the way i first feel is that shes just trying to one-up ivy based on what we have seen on their sister relationship so far. a way of saying ‘we arent at home and you arent in charge here’ the second is the more innocent maybe she feels more comfy with her family as a way to stretch out and be at ease. the third is a tad more sinister- i feel like in a world where touching is generally taboo i wonder how uncomfortable it would make people to have someone too close to you. it sort of feels like a threat. ‘im right here, and can invade your personal space at any time’.
combined with the smug facial expressions and the attitude verbena has towards the situation she is in i really feel like she is doing everything possible to antagonize her sister and push some buttons, more than just verbally.
Ivy’s hair is very voluminous here… I love it.
Also, my head cannon has that Verbena delivered that last line in that half whisper, half shouting running-all-the-words-together exasperated way.
I can picture them playing as children. Ivy kind of fits the older sibling, I think. They are very cute.
Pretty sure Ivy is the younger and Verbena is the elder
I think you’re right: https://lovenotfound.com/comic/ch14-p38/ Ivy is Verbena’s little sister.
Haha, Sisters for real.
+1

I think you’re forgetting the mother dynamic here, where their mom genetically engineered Ivy and seems to just use Verbena to be in Ivy’s business.
