Honestly this really sucks. Ivy doesn’t seem to have any “dirt”. Consensual kink should not, to me, count as “dirt” and what folks do privately in the bedroom is no one’s damn business.
Seriously why the hell is their mom so obsessed with getting “dirt” on Ivy? A good parent should be glad that their kid is happy and stable and in a good place.
Verbena doesn’t have a whole lot to hold onto any more than defiance. And Ivy and Holly are not in a position to realise this because Verbena is pressing their buttons.
I wish they could see past it, too, because this is practically a cry for help 🙁 “I know this is dumb, I think it’s dumb too, please help me do something else.”
In situations like this, when both people know the real problem is a third person (in this case, their mother) why everyone involved doesn’t just ring up the real instigator and tell them in no uncertain terms to butt out. Why waste energy getting mad at each other?
I’ve never decided to waste energy getting mad. I don’t think they are deciding, either. They are reacting to the other person being upset, by getting upset, that then upsets the other person, that then upsets the other person, that then upsets the other person. Meanwhile, Verbena is managing to communicate and ask for help, despite being upset. Everyone has a justification for being upset, always. The cycle has to be broken by caring for the other person and what they are upset about, rather then just reacting by being upset.
Because mom might then abuse them emotionally and gaslight them by denying she’s been anything but loving and caring and involved, ridiculing them and making them out to be the crazy ones.
Im surprised how Ivy still has patience to deal with Verbena. At this point I would have already called a guard to kick her out. Yes, i know she is doing it because of her mom, but stalking is not nice. And ai would like to see Ivy being more firm instead of just shrugging/being annoyed at her sister’s behavior.
Well, at least Vee is cutting to the chase. Now let’s see if she can tell her sister why she is the way she is. Then hopefully they can mend this bridge at least.
I love the way you develop your characters! They feel like real imperfectly perfect people with motivations, needs, wants, fears, and desires. Verbena reminds me so so SO much of someone I know irl who had a parent who would do exactly the same thing Vera is!
Excellent writing and gorgeous art! Thank you Gina!
Progress.
*Throws dirt on plate* There ya go!
She could make something up, but I can’t tell if that would end up being worse for her and Ivy?
It would likely be a lot worse in the long run.

Nitpicks incoming:
for tone, I would emphasise “want”, not “waste.
also, question marks don’t need spaces before it
Agreed. Typos fixed. ^_^

Fortunately, I think Aster might be.

This can be terrifying.

I love how Aster checks in on Ivy’s feelings, rather than being offended and picking a side.

Progress made earlier in the day… and lost in a trice.
She thrives on whatever attention she can get because she doesn’t get any from their mother.
