So we can all tell Amaryllis pulled the strings because she couldn’t shame Abeille into quitting and not hanging out with her “low-class” friends, right?
Not only that, she effectively shifted the responsibility for it to Abeille. It wasn’t that Amaryllis didn’t want her daughter to play sports or keep such company, no: it was Abeille’s “shortcomings” that caused all this, so she only has herself to blame.
You know… this really puts thisscenehere in a different light. Abeille feeling cooped up and stir-crazy, Evette being inclined to indulge her clearly miserable younger sister… kind of hits different when you realize Amaryllis has been actively sabotaging Abeille’s other outlets!
Judging by Abielle’s appearance/hairstyle, this would even be around the same time.
I hope that Abeille doesn’t learn to hate and become defensive and cold to others, but instead grows to have stronger boundaries.
I hope that her mom becomes more self-reflective and learns to tell the difference between people through their entire life time and incidents or patterns where a person behaved in an unfortunate way.
Except her mom has always acted that way by flash backs to her daughter’s studying, ringette, her husband etc. She is the person who is bad due to patterns of behavior rather than small instances.
It can be important to see the difference, whatever words are used. I have traits that are agony to have. Will I always be this way? Am I a bad person?
For others, there’s whether or not it’s worthwhile dealing with others, and there is whether or not they are a bad person.
It’s ok to not be able to deal with someone, right now.
It’s a problem, if you lie to yourself. If you tell yourself you can’t cope, because they are a bad person.
If it’s what you need to do right now, then it’s better than being harmed. It helps no one to allow yourself to be harmed.
But, the prisons and mental institutions are full of people who were reacted to this way. Wars are waged based on this misunderstanding. Hate crimes are committed based on this misunderstanding. People live in poverty because of this misunderstanding.
Abeille is so strong. I don’t think she can go the route of hating her parents. She can assert her boundaries. She already did it. But, we’ll see.
How did she achieve that period when she arrived on Monotropa and her parents granted her space with check-in calls?
There is or was a drawing of young Amaryllis and Mallow on patreon that I got a kick out of. Amaryllis looks like “the hot chick” with a bad attitude. It makes sense that Mallow would be charmed.
I’ve always had the impression that Amaryllis is jealous of Abeille. Something like Abeille is not miserable. How dare she? The power dynamic, to me, looks like Abeille is the mom and Amaryllis is the troubled child.
When Abeille has that sinister, I’m going to ruin my life, look in her eyes (not on this page), her facial expressions remind me of Amaryllis.
There’s so much implied by the times with Evette and Daisy. I love seeing more from that time.
I’ll be honest, the only way I see this going now is a restraining order. She’s literally isolated, controlled, and manipulated every aspect of Abeille’s life. I don’t see that changing unless drastic measures are taken to prevent her from just showing up. 🙁 Maybe they can come to an understanding and good boundaries can be made, but so far Amaryllis has bulldozed over every boundary. I don’t know what her comeuppance will be, but I hope it’s good. She needs freaking therapy and to stay the heck away from our lovebirds. Mallow is so meek, and probably needs some therapy himself. Even if I’m a little angry at him too for not standing up for Abeille, I understand since he’s probably just as abused… Just ugh this whole situation. I’m so happy Abeille has Miel.
Mom 100% got her reassigned and then made her feel lesser for it.
Because Mom 100% wanted to raise two copies of herself, not actual individuals who are capable of making their own decisions.
Worse, I bet Mom is the one making schedules and assigning people.
Or if not, had a word in the ear of the person who does.
Agreed..
I’m starting to really hate that woman.
starting to?
Words can not describe how much I hate this woman.
So we can all tell Amaryllis pulled the strings because she couldn’t shame Abeille into quitting and not hanging out with her “low-class” friends, right?
She’s the worst.
Not only that, she effectively shifted the responsibility for it to Abeille. It wasn’t that Amaryllis didn’t want her daughter to play sports or keep such company, no: it was Abeille’s “shortcomings” that caused all this, so she only has herself to blame.
Oh hey this feels a whole lot like my mom! I grew up and figured it out too, just like Abeille: I left 🙂
I love how messy these flashback panels are.
I love how messy these flashback borders are. <3 It gives a good sense of how Abeille feels about these memories.
You know… this really puts this scene here in a different light. Abeille feeling cooped up and stir-crazy, Evette being inclined to indulge her clearly miserable younger sister… kind of hits different when you realize Amaryllis has been actively sabotaging Abeille’s other outlets!

Oh man you’re right!
Ahhh yes, *there’s* the seething hatred we’ve been missing…
I love how the memories are blue it totally sells how her pink mood can change.
I hope this woman gets hers and loses everything and is forced to realize it is completely her own fault and have live with it.

I can tell this sounds obnoxious, but I really can’t tell what it is. It reminds me of Amaryllis.

Well, she got what she wanted technically. Abeille acted like an adult and figured it out. Mom just didn’t like the end result of it.
Ha! Yes, being an adult means getting to say No!
