What is it about drinking wine that increases the smug factor by 10? Also Amaryllis was drinking a gosh dang stein of wine in the flashback when Abeille attempted to confront her at Pasque. Get a grip, Amaryllis, you will ruin wine for me.
I didn’t notice the cup that Amaryllis is drinking out of there. The mention reminds of Mary’s mom, from Mary and Max, who drank Sherry all day, explaining it’s an adult beverage that requires constant testing.
Amaryllis trying to pretend like it wasn’t her fault *and* her intention to get Abeille fired has me wanting to jump through my computer screen to smack a fictional character.
Amaryllis seems like a bratty kid. I don’t know if I’m reading that right. As if she’s in competition with her daughter… and smirking because she thinks she won this round.
I agree! To me, Amaryllis is like a kid because she always wants to get her way and seems to think the rest of the world should cater to her needs and desires. This is exactly a child’s mindset, but most grow out of it; Amaryllis learned to manipulate her surroundings to achieve her goals instead. This is why she switches moods on a dime, she will instinctually behave in a way that’s got best chances of success.
I mean what makes a kid bratty? Egotistical tendencies. This is shared by adult brats, narcissists etc so I think your read is accurate. You’re mentally assigning the behavior to an age range because most people gain awareness and grow out of it.
I just noticed the detail with the speech bubbles— Amaryllis’s are blue, like the flashbacks to Pasque while Abeille’s are pink like Monotropa. It just goes to show how much Abeille belongs on this planet while her mother decidedly does not. Amaryllis is an outsider, plain and simple and I love the subtle emphasis of that with the speech bubbles
On the previous page you also see Abeille’s speech bubbles gradually shift from blue to pink in order to symbolise her new growth and conviction in the present.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she had two bottles of wine with homemade labels called “Abeille’s Tears” and “Miel’s Tears” respectively.
This whole, mock innocent and holier than thou attitude she has really has me pulling my hair. I’ve been on edge waiting for this page and I’ll be on edge waiting for the others that follow. I envy Abeille. She had the strength and conviction to leave and now she has that in order to stand up for herself. I never knew that was an option for me until well after my mom had passed when I was 24, which sadly, was how I escaped her abuse. I really admire her character. She’s true to herself, she’s beautiful and best of all, strong in so many ways.
Here’s hoping this ends with Abeille making her mo–excuse me, making Amaryllis (I will NOT give her a title anywhere near that respectable) regret ever messing with her life. I don’t want to see this woman hurt or anything…I’d much rather see her humbled, humiliated, and leaving the planet in shame.
And that’s when you say “You won’t be seeing me again. I don’t want you in my life. Goodbye.” And that’s the end. Trying to explain your POV to this person will not be heard.
It’s honestly been hard for me to read the stuff involving Amaryllis because of how much she’s like my own mom (though taken to the extreme, ofc)
But hoo boy am I looking forward to the next few pages of her (hopefully) getting her long overdue comeuppance!
this ^! Please, please this! She deserves a normal life! This or somehow I wish she’d be able to prove that her mother was awful to everyone finally. I feel like her mother is going to try and force her to stay in the room and that scares me, I hope Abeille will be ok.
Noooo, don’t feed the narcissistic supply by showing your pain. That’s what she wants! Just say you’re cutting her out of your life and leave. Gray rock! Gray rock, Abeille!!!
A grey rock is useful for sick people, while it does more good than bad. A red heart is what beats in Abeille’s chest, I think. She’s got the power. She’s invincible. She will do what’s right. She always does.
What would the consequences be if she kicked her mom in the face? Community service which she enjoys?
I don’t understand why there are no legal avenues she can pursue for this stalking and harassment, or to challenge her company for wrongful termination. And IF they are so laissez fair, I question whether she would face any penalties for violence.
White-haired boss guy did vaguely threaten her with being committed to a psychiatric ward for the physical touching she was caught doing, one would assume a similar or worse consequence for physical violence.
Yesss, daughter, you are reacting just as I expected, mmm

Given that she was at work at the time and it was in fact a mug, I’m *pretty* sure that was a mug of coffee or tea in the flashback.
Not that I’d put it past her to fill up a huge coffee mug with wine and start chugging it while at her desk, but not the most likely assumption.

But, Amaryllis with wine glass seems typical https://lovenotfound.com/comic/ch16-p48/
Abeille will do something different this time, I hope. I hope it will be a declaration, whether or not mom hears it.
I went back and checked and you’re right… I was going off of memory. The vibe was definitely the same though!
It’s actually grape juice she just likes being pretentious.
JFC this woman.

Nah fam, competing with your daughter isn’t “bratty”, that’s outright psychopathy.

She’s a cold person who just happens to live in a cold place. Aren’t Mallow’s also warmer? Warm colors for warm people?
Yes, but so were Amaryllis’s in other pages
On the previous page you also see Abeille’s speech bubbles gradually shift from blue to pink in order to symbolise her new growth and conviction in the present.
Please go no-contact. Please go no-contact. Please go no-
Meeeee right now
Something tells me that if Amaryllis keeps pushing, Abeille is more likely to go full contact than no contact.
I don’t think Amaryllis would expect a slap. Maybe that would skip the script.
you can do this Abeille!! Give her what for!

Please, please, may I call her mother a contemptuous, miserable, selfish scold?

Come on Abeille, you can do this.
The smug look on her face in each panel! Abeille, I hope you stand your ground!

I started reading your comic yesterday and got up to this page today.
I’m looking forward to how our heroine deals with her awful mom next.

THis is too realistic and i doN’T LIKE IT.
