Ch21, p53
Penultimate page for this chapter has arrived! Thanks for your patience everyone. It was a hell of a week last week and I just hit burnout on Friday. My dog got a gash in his paw and needed stitches, I argued with cellphone customer support over the course of several days and 10+ hours just to get my replacement phone activated. It was a rather soul-sucking sort of experience. I’m back and recharged. Ended up tossing the first pencils and started over on this page. I’m much happier with the result! See you on Friday for the last page of chapter 21!
I do love the phrase ‘gonna grow my garden’ and how it doesn’t just mean flowers in some dirt. She’s gonna make friends, nurture relationships, and take care of her own well-being. Her name is even more fitting. 🙂 She’s a bee spreading happy vibes.
*blubber*
First thing first, glad you’re doing better, Gina! I hope you puppy is doing better too. Believe me, it’s always terrifying when your pet gets hurt.
Also, it’s interesting about the Snow. Her mother said it’ll remind her of ‘home’, but I am glad Abeille feels differently about it, it doesn’t remind her of her previous home, but of her sister, which is something.
Inch by inch, and row by row
I’m gonna make my garden grow…sung by Pete Seeger most famously. I’m with Toz on gardening being a metaphor for her expanding social awareness. But gardens are not only life, gardens grow with composted remains of the dead. The arts and our nurture of our young, other animals and plants, are a cry against that death. But that death nourishes others, as Evette does for Abeille. This just keeps on getting better and better.

April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs…
She’d be so proud of you, Abeille. <3
Is this the first time she’s said my garden like that?
Seems like it was a busy, stressful week for you. Glad you took care of yourself^^
