I can’t believe you took care of the hurricane damage and also managed to produce a page- and what! a page! I am relly looking forward to seeing how the triad of Holly, Ivy, and Aster develops! I myself believe that there may very well be no development of Aster and Holly sexually. After all, when Holly is reflecting on how he “touched” Ivy after the Bug attack in the greenhouse, he considers what had happened and it felt right for me to be here, doing that for my best friend ( working off memory here, haven’t reread the whole story for at least a week) In our culture, we tend to forget that friendship is another form of love and it is possible to have deep, committed relationship as friends- without the “benefits”. After all, didn’t the ancient Greeks espouse friendship as one of the 3 main types of love? The two being agape, love for all humankind, and then lastly, lust? And Aster, being interested in Ivy-possibly as more than a jst plain sexual partner, is going to be sensitive to the friendship that already exists. I don’t hold much hope of our society evolving more sensitivity when the former vice president refused to even be alone with a member of the opposite sex. Not that anything is wrong with just plain sex, you understand! In fact, I can recommend falling in love with your best friend myself! I can hardly wait to see how the triad develops! And you have been trying to show healing and reconciliation in pretty much everybody’s interactions. But I don’t recommend your trying to heal Abeille’s and Amarallis’s relationship. She is a TYPICAL narcissist as you have written her, and they don’t change. They leave deep wounds that DO NOT heal, even 60 years later. They can only be dealt with by going no contact- or they drive you or your loved ones to suicide, and I’m talking here about Evette. I think pretty strongly that with a non-narciisistic parent, Evette might not have been so quick to freeze to death- based on what my coworker told me about her son being out with a skiing group when a blizzard struck, whiteout conditions- they could only form a huddle to walk to try to stay warm, and 5 of them lived and the sixth died. Even if you don’t think the emotional part of it holds water, I could just see a person with a narcissistic parent being unable to shop for the deep cold weather clothing called for in the weather conditions, but being made to feel guilty for spending money on “un’needed” clothing, or being too busy dealing with guilt tripping by the narcissistic parentto pack carefully can still be considered as contibuting to the adult’ child’s death-sorry for being so muddled but even after 61 years it’s still upsettig to me.
Oh lovely cover! It seems Poppy will be the focus, but I hope due to the title this chapter will focus on the connections all these chars have for each other. I want to see them all rally and support each other in some way.
