Such a contrast from the family dynamic we’ve been seeing with Amaryllis, and so heartwarming. Glad Abeille has such good examples of what supportive, loving, mothers are like, as well.

As a Hispanic person, them being all about the food and cleaning up for their new daughter is very relatable in the best way.
That said, Miel has a surplus of awesome moms. He can lend one out for a bit.

One thing both of us like about Ms Bigg’s artwork- her people look like “real” people. They’re not conventionally pretty , not at an “ideal” weight, and not divided up into heterosexual pairs. Heck, even Holly, Aster and Ivy show how a three some might able to succeed. (Unlike Mr M’s story where he had K, D and F being set up to be a 3some- he even had F say twice “I’ll take D, I love D…” The ending several years later was quite ironic, as Mr M had K cured by having some good [non heterosexual] sex and having a baby! Sounds like the patriarchy to me! ) I loved the discussion of love languages – mine is fixing good food , and skin to skin touching.
I loved Miel’s moms’ sulky faces when he reminded them they were only there for a short while. I was lucky to have all my MILs be wonderful MILs (all both of them) and I always considered my children’s spouses would become my children too.
