Volume 2 – Inside Look!
I created this video to give you a small inside look at the remastering work I did as I prepared Love Not Found volume 2 for print.
The biggest change was the word bubbles. Reworking the lettering and placement of the bubbles created consistency and harmony throughout the book which I think you will enjoy. There were several scenes where more color was brought in to the backgrounds and it would lift the whole scene… Give it ambiance. Flashbacks to Abeille’s icy homeworld, for instance, were switched to blue to reflect the cold planet and melancholy memories. Slightly more dramatic edits to the art helped make actions more clear.
These are just a few samples of what’s you’ll find when you open the pages of Love Not Found Vol 2!
I love the color changes and that the artwork is updated. There are artists who say artists should only look forward. But, this is looking forward, and this fan very much appreciates the story being treated lovingly as it deserves to be.
Thanks! Yeah, I didn’t want to get extreme with any changes because I’ve fallen into that pit of constantly trying to “fix” older work in the past, but looking at the material that would be in a book together, I wanted to make it more cohesive in design.
The series started off with a limited color palate (which is one of the reasons I was able to churn out more pages in the past), so I was careful to make sure the changes didn’t look out of place. It had to look like it fit with the rest of the story around it. The word/thought bubbles were in a constant state of experimentation until I reached Ch14 and fell in love with the look of the gradient word bubbles. Getting to go back and make it look uniform makes the whole book look really fantastic!
