Love Not Found – Ch.24, p16

We got Hurricane Milton coming our way. We live on the east side of mid-Florida, so we won't be getting the Cat3 storm when it hits us, but we're gonna get at least a Cat1. If we lose power, I'll have my phone to post info updates on social media. Make sure you're following me on my Bluesky, Twitter, or the LNF Facebook page (links are on the right sidebar). ----->

  1. Please stay safe and I hope Milton doesn’t get you too badly :C

  2. Keep our wonderful mangaki (is that the right word for a manga artist/writer?) and all she loves safe. many don’t realize how dangerous floodwaters are. Full of petroleum products, sewage, e coli, vibrio, snakes, gators and floating fire ant balls. Boil municipal water x20 minutes before using. Brush your teeth, bathe, change to plastic and paper dishes/cutlery, I have 2 washboards dating back to the 2004 summer of 3 hurricanes. Be well, this is good practice for the next one!

    1. Gina famously said she’s “not a mangaka” back in Red String days and that her comic will read left to right (of course, she is one of the finest manga/comic artists, and a trail blazer). I think I can safely say we are all wishing for your safety, Gina.

  3. Somehow left out that you need to treat water for teethbrushing bathing & washing dishes, If you get Individual microwaveable servings of meat a roni, sgetti os, mac n cheese, you can just take the top off, put the container into a small pot of bottles water, heat it on a sterno stove for 2-3 minutes, and you haven’t messed up your pot and can use the same water day after day.

  4. The parallels with the story and what’s happening are hard to miss. We’ve touched on covid and climate change, and the emotional impacts of those. There is so much packed into this little comic.

I don’t mean: “ooh, Gina is psychic”! Every time I reread I learn a new thing. It reminded me of the interview in PanelX (vol 1. num 17, I have it downloaded that’s why I know the id) that made me think that comics are a unique art form because of this phenomenon.

A person spends years packing so much info into each panel in each page. A movie isn’t like that. It just whizzes by. And each panel gets scrutinized. Even if people whizz by the pages too, each panel has to stand on it’s own. There is a lot of thought in this comic.

  5. I’m guessing it’s Mr. Acier, Miel’s thinking of. I think he would be inclined to help Miel out still, despite the whole dismissal. They were like best buds for a boss/employee relation and Acier would probably like to do something for Miel since he couldn’t protect at EyeBrights in the end. Maybe Miel can do something in return for the favour too.

Also, I hope you’re safe and doing well with the Hurricane Milton aftermath, Gina. Hopefully, things can return to some normalcy soon.

    1. That was my thought too. I don’t know about best buds though. There’s also Birch, who Acier got angry about because, Miel was being a human (I love we see the hint of story arc, well before then). Acier scolded Miel for not “picking up extra hours”. So, I hope it’s Birch, and I love that so far to me I think the lovers are on solid ground, no matter what Amaryllis tries. Acier might even cause problems.

And, I’m with you too on wishes. I hate to think of all the “overtime” Gina has to do because of this storm.

      1. I think it’s more like Acier observing Miel’s changing behaviour from what he was used to seeing from one of his top employees, now former. Even when he might have some disapproval with some of Miel’s recent actions (minus the touching part), it wasn’t hardly in a severe or derogatory demeanour.
