Considering the world, is anyone else amazed at the central art where Amaryllis is actually grabbing ahold of Abeille? The two of them have not touched in a long time; the imagery is relatable to us because of our societies, and recognizing the “choke-hold” Amaryllis has, but the torture must be even more tangible to Abeille to appear in her dream!
You know, this story arc had me pondering (and tw here for abusive parents) whether I dodged a bullet somewhat by my “dad” being an abject monster, and thus leaving no space for reconciliation. It absolutely sucked at the time, it was horrific, but now that time has passed and its become an old, well healed wound, but if had been just a little more contrite and maybe just a little less monstrous, would I have second thoughts about cutting off contact?
Interesting ponder. Possibly; emotional damage can be more insidious than physical. I have survived every manner of abuse, from a variety of sources. Psychological damage, in my case, seems to have caused more long-lasting harm. I certainly need to process more of that than the old, old physical trauma, which comes up rarely now. Glad you got out and seem to have healed.
Just read back through the entire exchange between Abeille and Amaryllis. It was classic DARVO, start to finish. This sort of this is really traumatizing to the target. It is very apparent that this is an ongoing pattern between Amaryllis and pretty much everyone around her. She even did it to Miel’s parents when she met them, when Miel called her out for backstabbing Abeille repeatedly during the dinner conversation.

I love that the dream sequences take place in a static dream world that lives on across dreams.

Perfect imagery for that narcissistic snake of a mother. you don’t need the candle you dropped, because you are the fire. Burn that snake from within.

Love this.

Well damn. First comment and I have to say, congrats on accurately portraying how toxic her mother is.

Amaryllis was being a sly serpent for the whole trip. Any chance the candle’s flame will light her lying tail on fire? 😀
