Love Not Found Epilogue – p09

Just shy of twelve years, the final page of Love Not Found. It's been quite a ride, huh? It's amazing, no matter how much we prepare ourselves, we're never ready when it comes to say good-bye to something or someone. Whether it's moving away from home, saying farewell to a loved one, or even finishing a really good book. The experience of the journey leaves its mark on us. Life is just like that, but endings bring new beginnings.

I would be honored for you to join me for the next new beginning, a new comic series coming this summer! I've been developing it over the last year and starting in May, I'll be making an announcement about it! Very soon you'll start to see concept art, doodles, and all sorts of material in the lead up to its launch! Creating comics fill me with joy and I look forward to sharing the joy with you! <3

NOTE: To reassure everyone, I know the Strawberry is a plant, not a tree. In this Sci-fi world, Miel’s company was creating all sorts of hybrid plants that could sustain the Monotropan environment. Throughout the series, they’ve made appearances; The Peapricot (pear-apricot hybrid) that Ivy and Holly had been growing at Eyebright, somewhere else I drew in a Sunflower “tree” and other things that were reminiscent of their Earth origins. I envisioned Miel attempting to create this special plant over the course of several years to give as a gift to Abeille.

  1. My heart!!!! *cries* so bitter sweet

  2. Oh gosh, this final page brought tears to my eyes, because of how heartfelt it is (<3 Evette and a strawberry tree) and also because this is the end of the comic. Gosh did I love it: such honest portrayals of people and their interactions and quests for friendship and love. Thank you Gina! I am looking forward to your next series. <3

  3. Broom of the Cowdenknowes

…And today I learned that strawberry trees exist as well as strawberry bushes! The fruit looks neat, I should try it sometime.
Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful story with us. Webcomics take so much work, especially when they’re in full colour, and we appreciate every page. Looking forward to whatever you decide to do next!

    1. “Strawberry trees are not really strawberries. The Muntingia is native to India, and it’s also called the “Jamaican cherry” It bears a small fruit about the size of a trimmed fingernail that tastes vaguely like strawberries. This fruit can only be eaten fresh as freezing or cooking will turn it into something that tastes like mushy cardboard. (I know what that tastes like, as a child I had pica) It loves to grow in Florida sugar sand. There’s another strawberry tree in the arbust family It doesn’t even look like strawberries and won’t grow in Florida.

  4. Oh god i’m sitting here sobbing. Its over, but i dont want it to be. I want to see more. Their kids, their grand kids, a wedding. Did mallow ever leave his wife?

  5. I wept – how lovely! Thank you so much and congratulations!

  6. The tree, oh my gosh, I’m so happy and filled. I can’t believe it’s been twelve years! Thank you for such a beautiful story! I can’t wait for the next one!

  7. This was beautiful.
This entire series has been beautiful.
    Thank you.

  8. Wow, I can’t believe it’s over.

I’ve been reading your comics since Red String was about one third through its runtime, so it’s been a long while. Love Not Found definitely didn’t feel like twelve years, but here I am, 40 years old at this point. It was such an awesome story and I am so happy that the story was with me through quite a few trials in my life. Thank you for the amazing ride!

I must say that I also really enjoyed the style of the epilogue, without text and so full of color! I do wish we could have seen what/how the moms of Abeille and Ivy are doing – seeing what the “bad guys” do is one of the things that really stuck with me in the Red String epilogue to this day – but I also feel like it’s very fitting that Pasque is now behind Abeille. Still, I do hope that Daisy is fine and happy as well!

I look very much forward to your next comic, Gina! Thank you for all your hard work, your wonderful stories and for making them available for free to us readers!

  9. I’m guessing a strawberry hybrid made to survive the environment of the planet? That is one of the main goals of the company they were working for if I recall.

  10. This was a beautify story. Thank you for sharing it with us. ♥

  11. Lovely ending. I’ve enjoyed this since Abielle first collided with Miel, all those years ago.

  12. Congratulations. This is a wonderful fairytale ending.

  13. Congratulations on finishing the series! Been here since the Red String days and have never been disappointed (well, I’ve been enraged a few times at Abeille’s domineering mother, but she got what she deserved, so I was happy in the end). Delighted to see such a happy ending for Abeille and her love.

Looking forward to seeing whatever you come up with next!

  14. Thank you Gina, it’s been a fun journey with these characters.

  15. congrats on finishing the comic!!!!! its so lovely 🙂 what a sweet plaque and ending.

  16. It’s over. Damn. Time for another read-through, though!
Also – a new story? Nice.

  17. Thanks for this awesome story! Holy cow, it’s been that long haha I’ve been reading since it first launched! Good job, great story, and I will see your next webcomic soon! This was a sweet story, really love that they found exactly what they needed.

  18. What a beautiful and satisfying ending. I loved this series from start to finish.
